Meet John

Since entering the financial planning profession in 1980, John has provided the financial advice, education, and services that have earned his clients’ trust and friendship. Over nearly four decades, he has proven the value of strong ethics, personal service, and honest relationships.  The passion that continues to drive John is the desire to help his clients make the wise financial decisions that enable them to pursue their life goals.

John founded Granite Wealth Strategies in 2010 and became a strategic partner with the Carson Group in 2015 to further enhance the firm’s ability to provide the highest quality service, advice, and resources to his clients.  The financial planning business is not just about money or taxes or investing.  It is really all about people and their dreams.  The desire to help people pursue those dreams has been, and continues to be, the driving force behind John’s career.

John is a Washington State native.  He had the great privilege of growing up on the shores of Puget Sound and spent as much time on the water as possible, instilling a life-long love of boating.  John graduated from Seattle Pacific College with a BA in Philosophy and earned a MDiv degree from Western Seminary in Portland, Oregon. John received the CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ designation in 1984 from the College for Financial Planning in Denver, Colorado.  Vancouver has been home since 1974.

John’s interests revolve around his family and include hunting, fishing, boating, and watching the grandchildren’s sports. John and his wife, Rhonda, have been married over 40 years and have three sons and a daughter and five grandchildren.
